fluidity

I think the beauty of life is that we all have the autonomy to live it differently. It’s pretty crazy to to think that not one single person has had the same experiences or path you have. Everyone views life differently and wants different things out of it. I think many times we can get caught up in what we are “supposed to do” or following the path that seems laid out in front of us. But our lives are not predestined, everyday we make small or large choices that can completely change the trajectory of our lives.

Sometimes I think about a pattern or just broadly something going on in my life and trace it back to the source: a singular event or decision. This one decision spurred a series of events that changes major aspects of my life and pushes me in a direction I never thought I would be in.

I think people get too focused on planning their entire lives or creating rigid ideas of what or who they want to be. Reality is, it’s almost impossible to predict these things and even when you do, I think it can be much better and more free to simply let yourself go and not hold onto the idea of what you think you are or need to be.

If you know exactly what you want to be in life - If you want to be a grocer, or a general, or a politician, or a judge, you will invariably become it; that is your punishment. If you never know what you want to be, if you live what some might call the dynamic life but what I will call the artistic life, if each day you are unsure of who you are and what you know you will never become anything, and that is your reward.
— Oscar Wilde

We are completely in control of our lives, yet so much is out of our hands. I say let yourself go where the wind blows you. Do not tie yourself to what you are or what you think you need to be. Let yourself be fluid and move and change as life moves and changes around you.
