my all-time top 10 show recommendations

As someone who has seen way more TV shows than probably anyone should. I decided I’ll pass on my wisdom to you guys so you don’t have to waste your time with boring shows.

FYI, this is a real list of good shows you should watch, not just the mega-deep, insightful, award-winning ones okay? Sorry if some of these are basic, a good show is a good show. Here we go.

editors note: I’ve since watched Game Of Thrones and its AT LEAST top 2 if not my favorite show now.

1. Peaky Blinders

It’s just so good on so many levels. Cillian Murphy’s performance throughout the whole series is 10/10. It’s one of those shows where you really can’t take your eyes off the screen. So many great storylines and it’s really not boring. It’s a little violent so if that isn’t your thing you might want to skip it. By the end, it can also be a little repetitive with the story, but I still give it the #1 spot.

2. Fleabag

I love a show like Fleabag that combines elements that I usually find separate in TV. Let me elaborate, to me shows are either casual watches or 100% attention kind of shows — that kind of thing. Anyway, Fleabag is casual enough but you also find yourself addicted and wanting to keep watching episodes. It’s really funny but also has real and emotional moments and themes. Similarly, it’s extremely light-hearted but also heavy. Just overall, a fantastic, unique show.

3. Friday Night Lights

In my opinion, the superior teen drama. I find it way better than Gossip Girl, One Tree Hill, and those kinds of shows. Firstly, it’s shot really differently from those other shows and I really love it. Second of all, I just think the storylines and characters are just so much better than the typical teen drama types. It does a great job of portraying high-school life in Texas and the various struggles of each character. All I have to say is this: Tim + Lyla forever.

4. White Lotus

White Lotus is such a popular show for a reason. Every character you feel like you know EXACTLY the type. In classic HBO fashion, really none of the characters are protagonists or antagonists. They all kinda suck and they all kinda are likable, making it both interesting and slightly confusing to watch. I really never know who I’m cheering for.

Two shows with similar vibes I would 100% recommend are Big Little Lies and Bad Sisters - both amazing TV.

5. The Office

Again, it’s a classic for a reason. I feel like I honestly don’t have to say too much about it but I do find it genuinely funny (although I am not one of those Office stans — you know the ones).

A close tie with The Office is Parks and Recreation

6. It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia

Now, I’m going to be straight-up, this show is for sure not everyone’s cup of tea. It’s pretty crude, ill-mannered, and offensive. But if you get it, you get it. The show is pretty much one big joke and I think it’s honestly so funny. One of my all-time favorite comedy shows. FYI Charlie is my favorite character by a mile.

A similar show I would recommend is Trailer Park Boys, again quality television but not everyone’s cup of tea.

7. Shameless

The more I write these down, the more I’m realizing these recommendations may be for very specific subset of people but whatever. Shameless is another show that truly does have a little of everything yet again. It’s super funny and unserious but also heavy, real, and sad. It’s definitely very crude and inappropriate and some of the heavier storylines can be dark. There’s like a million seasons at this point, so if you’re looking for a long show, here you go.

8. Curb Your Enthusiasm (and Seinfeld)

Sorry guys I’m really sneaking more than 10 recommendations into these. Larry David’s dry sense of humor in this is one of my favorite things. The show is essentially just him “saying the things we all want to say.” I snuck Seinfeld in there because I felt it was fitting with Curb being about Larry David and all. I only recently watched Seinfeld and LOVED it.

9. Narcos (first 2 seasons)

I resisted watching Narcos for so long because I thought it would be boring. But boy was I WRONG. ***disclaimer not the 3rd season*** But this show is just so good. Its so interesting and obviously based on a true story so it kinda makes it more interesting to watch. Another disclaimer: it can get pretty gore-y so just beware.

10. Money Heist

Another show I really put off watching, but boy do I regret it. Its SO good. Action packed and really sucks you in. There are so many twists and turns and its literally impossible to get bored watching. I will say the 2nd heist feels a little repetitive but still a fabulous show.

Okay well there you go, my top 10 TV shows (plus a few) - hope you enjoy.

HONORABLE MENTIONS: Family Guy, Suits, Cable Girls, Elite, Arrested Development, I Think You Should Leave, and Psych.
